Enjoy Great Bandwidth with Optical Fiber Cable

Fiber Optics hold the future of communication because of tremendous capacity to handle high speed data transfer with very little noise factor. In addition, the power loss in the optical fiber cable is very low making it an ideal device for carrying signals over a very long distance without significant distortion or requirement of amplifiers of repeaters. Optical fiber cables consist of one or more optical fibers bundled together with a thick protective covering giving fibers the form of cable.

Fiber Optics consists of essentially two layers of core and cladding to make communication through an optical fiber possible. The inner layer is called as core while the outer one is called as cladding. The basic idea is to have two different media with different refractive index to allow the light to refract as it moves along the fiber optic cable. As the signal, which is in the form of light, travels from denser to rarer medium bend away from the normal and are ultimately reflected back due to a phenomenon known as total internal reflection that is the base for optical fiber communication. Optical fibers are made of glass and are very thin of the order of nano-meters in diameter. Thus they are very delicate and needs a thick protective layer.

Role of passive devices and passive networks in any communication including optical fiber communication cannot be taken for granted. Passive Optical networks commonly abbreviated as PON refers to a meaningful interconnection of optical fiber cable and other passive networks that cannot generate any power on their own. There are many key elements of a PON including splitters and gepon onu. Splitters as the name suggest splits the beam of light into several beams travelling through an optical fiber. It is one of the main parts of passive optical networks. There are various types of splitters available including Fused Biconical Taper (FBT) splitter and Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) splitters.

PLC splitter is the latest additions to the world of splitters. It offers much better control on splitting the lighy with precise control over intensity and distribution of light. EPON and GEPON are two types of passive optical networks related to optical communication. Gepon onu is another in the series of passive devices of optical networks. You can connect a huge number of devices using the same and that too without any undue leakage of power. All these devices are very compact making them perfect for optical fiber communication.
